MY STORY
My life journey began with remarkable love and survival and also unpredictability and chaos. From the beginning, I was surrounded by incredibly powerful women, between my homes in Miami, Lima and Chiclayo, Peru. The tias and abuelas that raised me nurtured my deep faith in cooking and sharing comida típica y cacera, shameless authenticity, the healing power of connection and laughter, and a sense of pride in our environment. They taught me ferocity and extraordinary courage and resilience.
Parts of me embodied these lessons early and they helped carry me through some really difficult times, including living with (and overcoming) debilitating chronic illness, experiencing heartbreak in love and friendship, losing myself in high-control groups, and caring for my mother through her terminal illness (which began when I was six years old) until the end of her life. In my personal life, I spent a lot of time just surviving. Academically, I sought to make sense of personal and collective suffering. I studied nutrition, medical sociology, public health, and theology of the body, healing, and disease.
By my mid-20s though, I was deeply, deeply exhausted. I felt like I was carrying the weight of generations of exhaustion on my back. I found myself somewhat shocked that I was the mother of three powerful little women, I developed symptoms of Lyme disease with co-infections, and I was experiencing bursts of rage and pain. I felt so victimized by life and the injustice of it all felt like more than my one body could bear.
My seeking led me to study the connection between chronic stress and disease, attachment, Internal Family Systems, and Somatic Experiencing. I also connected with a miracle trauma therapist who supported me in the thick of my transformation. Slowly but surely, I noticed I was experiencing life in a new way. By combining rich nourishment, my natural instincts to orient to nature, and my expanding capacity to support all parts of myself and BE in my body, healing became my daily experience.
This holistic approach, integrating nourishment, nature, emotions, and the body, informed my professional trajectory and led me to build a practice where I support others on the journey. My work now combines personalized nutrition rooted in latitude and season, circadian biology, movement, connection, and somatic inner-relationship work. I am passionate about supporting people to transform generational patterns of disease and grief into personal and collective wisdom.
I believe deeply that transformation of the mind and body is possible, and compassionate relationship is what enables that healing. I come to this work from my own history of autoimmunity, chronic illness, CPTSD, and deep, deep suffering. I bring all the compassion, depth, and love that pain has taught me, and it is my greatest privilege to walk alongside others on the journey.
